DBWOA Newsletter 7-8-24

Hello, Friends!

I hope that you are staying cool during these extreme and prolonged temperatures.  It’s really hot out there!

The Dale Basin Well Owner’s Association Board met yesterday to prepare for the upcoming scheduled General Meeting on July 23. However, with the Excessive Heat Warnings in effect until Thursday, and the ongoing heat wave that we are experiencing this Summer, the Board voted to postpone the July meeting until September 8th. Accordingly, we have rescheduled the following meeting to December 8. Mark your calendars! While it is our clear intention to host regular, scheduled General Meetings, we are concerned about the safety risk of our members traveling during these extreme conditions.

In other news, we’re happy to report that this is our second year with a full slate of four Officers and two Directors on the Board. Our By-laws require a full Board, but due to Covid, health issues, new jobs, etc., we haven’t had a full Board for several years. With this full Board, we have been able to host regular General Meetings, build out our website, and make it easier to pay the membership dues online, as well as generating newsletters to keep you all informed of what’s happening.

In our last three General Meetings, we have offered talks on educational topics such as a presentation on well maintenance, a presentation on how a well driller knows where to drill, some do’s and don’ts on well drilling, and a talk by a representative from the 29 Palms Water District. More informational talks are scheduled for upcoming General Meetings.

We have a website that is growing: www.DaleBasinWellOwners.org. Our meeting announcements and agendas are posted there. This year, we began posting detailed minutes from our General Meetings.

We have also added a new Resource page, where you can find informative articles on well maintenance. Our bylaws can be viewed on the Files and Documents page.  Check it out!

Our Treasurer has set up ways to pay membership dues online by debit card or credit card , via Zelle, which also gives you the option of paying by credit card at the General Meetings. Of course, cash and check are welcome if you are paying in person. And, mailing a check is still fine – send to Dale Basin Well Owner’s Association, Attn: Treasurer, PO Box 116, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277. If paying by Zelle, the payee is treasurer@dalebasinwellowners.org. A reminder: in 2023, the membership approved a dues increase from $5 to $10 a year. This was done to ensure our  costs are covered by the expected membership fees and to protect our ability to employ legal defense of members’ water rights, should that be needed.

If you haven’t already, we hope you will consider renewing your 2024 membership. And, thank you to those of you who have already renewed or recently joined. Welcome aboard!

Stay cool and stay safe. As the song says, “See You In September”!
